Expanding Your Social Media Presence
If you are not on social media or are not actively engaging your fans and followers, you are missing out on potential customers and interactions to build your brand. Social media is now more “social” than ever and people who are now homebound are spending more and more time on it. So how do you ramp up your activity to reach customers?
Share your story. We did a blog post on this last year (link here) that talked through integrating your story into your promotional plan, both on and offline. Biggest takeaways? Be true to your brand and what it represents and encourage others to take part in the story.
Post, post, post. If you don’t put anything up, your fans and followers will have nothing to see. The general rule of thumb for Facebook is to post daily. If your business is “open” Monday through Friday, post on those days. If you attend a market on Saturday and Monday is your “day of rest”, post Tuesday through Saturday. On Instagram, you want to post at least three days a week.
Go LIVE! Facebook and Instagram both allow you to go LIVE in posts and Stories. When you post a live video, you have unique content but also reach more people because they get a notification that you are going LIVE. It also allows you to connect with your fans and followers right then and there.
Use your Stories. Stories are user-generated photo or video collections that can be viewed up to two times within 24 hours. After 24 hours, they disappear. This is great if you have a one-day sale going on or want to share a market day. They are also a great way to give your followers a snapshot of what is going on at a given time on the farm or kitchen.
It is now more important than ever that businesses are online and have a social media presence. Using social media can help build brand awareness, increase customer traffic to your market or your online store, and increase sales.
