Kentucky Veteran Resources
In September, KCARD and program partners were awarded a grant for the Connecting Kentucky Veterans to Agriculture Opportunities (Kentucky AgVets) program. Main program partners include the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Horticulture Council, Kentucky Sheep and Goat Development Office and the Community and Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky (CEDIK).
For our first workshop, the Kentucky AgVets partners recorded a series of webinars that are designed to help inform veterans and transitioning service members on agricultural opportunities and assistance. Click here to check out the first set of the series that introduces the partners and their programs. Future webinars and hands-on workshop recordings will be uploaded to the KCARD YouTube site for participants to reference as needed.
KCARD has also launched a new resource page dedicated to providing information on the Kentucky AgVets program. This resource page will serve as a hub for general program information and event updates, veteran-specific resources, Kentucky AgVets partner information, and newsletter sign up.
Any veteran or transitioning service member who is interested in learning more about how to start, or expand, an agriculture business in the state of Kentucky can participate in the program. Transitioning service members who are interested in an internship or CSP program through Fort Campbell or Fort Knox during the last 6 months of active duty may also participate.
Visit KCARD’s new Kentucky AgVets resource site here to learn more about the program and qualifications. To keep up with program events, workshop reminders, funding deadlines, and other AgVets news, subscribe to the program’s newsletter here.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me at kpadgett@kcard.info, or at (859) 550-3972. We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with key industry organizations across the state!
Best,
Kellie
